Sunday, the day of our departure, arrived all too soon. We started the day by attending Mass. Much to our surprise, the Padre was the kindly man who had played baseball on the Americans' team the day before! A special collection was made for the victims of the recent El Salvador earthquake. Even though the campo residents don't have much money, the basket was filled. The Gospel for the day, I Cor. 13, said it all for our experiences of the weekend and the people of Las Calabasas.
After Mass, it was time to load up the truck and leave. Hugs all around, and whisperings of "we'll see you in March!"
The Padre is on the right, behind Jesse, talking to Seth. Gladys is just right of center in brown, with my little brother Angelou.
